Rainy Days are Barn Days

This summer, one obstacle for our farm has been the weather. We are experiencing a very wet summer which can make planting and any other outside jobs difficult to complete. On these days, we work on tasks in the barn.

Some of the barn tasks our workers have been learning include efficient sweeping techniques, shoveling manure, cleaning barn stalls, and feeding animals. Under the instruction of a supervisor, they have already begun to grasp these concepts and make improvements in their abilities.

Additionally, we are teaching our workers how to be good steward with animals. They are learning how to respect animals and how to behave when in contact with animals. An important aspect of this is keeping the animals safe by always closing and locking stall doors, barn doors, and gates. Each of our workers love animals and with guidance are learning how to best care for them.
